Shannan Roberts
From Data Analyst to Designer
My name is Shannan Roberts and I am a UX Designer. After graduating college, I started my career as a Data Analyst, building out visualizations for our business to better understand the patterns happening in the market with our products. After working in that area for a few years, I decided that it wasn’t something that I would like to do for the foreseeable future. Throughout my college internships and my job out of college, I was always interested in shadowing the UX designers on the surrounding teams. When thinking about what career path I wanted to switch to, remembering this made the switch feel like a no-brainer.
I have always loved and practiced art since I was young, which I think is one of the reasons why UX has been so appealing to me. Not only is it a wonderful way to apply my data analytics background, but it is also a creative outlet to think outside of the box and work alongside of customers and users to make the best product for their needs. Coming from a background in Agile, I love collaborating and working with different teams, brainstorming and comparing and contrasting all of our different ideas. So, when I learned that UX Designers work closely with all different types of people and groups, it made me love the thought of working in this field even more.
